An ambitious Healthcare Information Technology leader with over twenty years of professional experience in healthcare: The initial four years were spent honing skills as a clinician and manager in oncology inpatient and outpatient settings. It was as a clinical manager, where the awareness of just how beneficial or potentially detrimental information systems could impact the delivery of patient care, could not be overlooked. While some systems were technically sound, very few of them took into account the needs of the clinician. Working to provide systems that improve patient care has been the focus of the past seventeen years.
Having been responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of Epic’s suite of applications across three different organizations:
- Academic Medical Center (Inpatient and Outpatient) in Portland, Oregon
- Large Health System (hospital and ambulatory) in Sacramento, California
- Multispecialty Ambulatory Clinic Foundation in Santa Barbara, California
In each of these, the goal has been to continuously develop methods to improve adoption through provider engagement, aggressive optimization, and concise communications.
In addition to supporting the EHR, I have also been responsible for the development and growth of an analytics team, focused on developing tools that help guide the organization through the rapidly changing landscape of healthcare. The primary goals are to build tools that help evaluate and guide the transition to value-based care and alternative payment models.
Currently serving as the Chief Information Officer for Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara, California.
